Sorry guys, I know there was supposed to be a post last week, but I finished the series last week and decided that it wasn’t complete without End of Evangelion. There will be a post in the next couple of days (I dearly hope) since I can see the end in sight.
I’ve ended up watching End of Evangelion twice now and I think I’m starting to get triggered.
TL;DR: Update = no post
Hey everyone. As you might or might not know, I’ve recently moved over from the free WordPress.com hosted blog to my own hosting set up. This rare admin post is to basically decide the future of the website. Please fill in a short survey here and let me know what you think.
To most of you, this website will have always have had ads of one kind or another. Previously, the ad revenue, such as it was, went to WordPress, who in return used that money to allow people like me to maintain a blog for free. The current ads you see right at this moment, however, help me support this website and the associated costs. I won’t lie, though – the ads aren’t just for running the website, they are also for my own income. Now, I’m not destitute, but neither was this blog ever a non-profit. Having said that, if the ads are negatively affecting the user experience on the site, I don’t believe the few cents I receive from them justify that.
I don’t personally like ads. I would hate for website to contribute to the cancer to society that are pop-ups and pop-unders but at the same time, I put into a lot of time and effort into this website and it would be nice for the website to be able to at least support itself. Currently, I’ve experiment putting a couple of ads up but based on the feedback from the survey, I will consider committing fully to the ads (i.e. placing a few more, or placing them more strategically).
The other alternative is for me to set up a Patreon page where kind souls with a buck to spare can contribute to support me. I wouldn’t really want more than a dollar a month from any who wants to contribute but neither can I really offer any rewards for contribution at the moment. I don’t like the idea of hiding my articles behind paywalls but I’m open to the concept of allowing donors to vote on what I cover next, or something similar. I don’t have a great deal of experience with Patreon or any kind of donation based model but I’d be happy to get any feedback on either option.

Thanks for your time!
